The speed sensor reads a magnet on the wheel and tells a Bafang mid-drive how fast you're going, so the motor can manage assist up to 25 km/h and the display shows the right speed. Replace it if your speed reads zero or the assist drops out.

  • Bafang part: fits all CAN-protocol Bafang mid-drive motors.
  • Covers the current mid-drives: the M210, M410 and M510 VelectriX uses all run CAN.
  • Accurate speed: the motor needs it to hold the 25 km/h assist limit.

Fitting

It mounts on the frame near the rear wheel and plugs into the motor's wiring. Tune Cycles can fit it, line it up with the magnet and clear any error codes.

Fit and compatibility

Suits VelectriX mid-drive models from MY21 on with a CAN-protocol Bafang motor. On the current range that's the Adventurer X ST (M410), Ascent X (M510) and Cruiser X ST (M210). It isn't for hub-drive models.
