Clutch stability where it counts
The defining feature of a Type 2 derailleur is its one-way roller bearing clutch. It resists the cage swinging forward, so the lower run of chain stays taut over bumps and braking bumps. The result is far less chain slap, better chain retention and a quieter, more controlled ride. The clutch is factory set and self-contained, so there is no fiddly tuning to keep it working.
Easier wheel changes
Cage Lock lets you push the cage forward and lock it with a button, releasing chain tension so the rear wheel drops in and out without wrestling the derailleur. It makes trailside repairs and transport noticeably quicker.
Compatibility and fit
This is a 10-speed derailleur using SRAM's 1:1 actuation ratio, so it pairs with SRAM 10-speed mountain shifters (such as X0, X9 and X7 Type 2-era triggers). The short cage offers a 30-tooth chain-wrap capacity and handles a maximum 36-tooth rear cog, making it the right choice for single-ring and narrow-range drivetrains where a shorter, snappier cage is preferred. For wide-range 2x or 3x gearing, choose the long-cage version.
SRAM warrants this product to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for two (2) years from the original date of purchase. The warranty applies to the original owner and is not transferable, and original proof of purchase is required. It does not cover damage from misuse, neglect, improper installation, normal wear or modification.
