How eTap shifting works

SRAM's eTap logic is famously simple. The left lever paddle shifts the rear derailleur to an easier gear, the right lever paddle shifts to a harder gear, and pressing both paddles together moves the front derailleur between chainrings. Because the system is wireless, this left control talks directly to your derailleurs - there is nothing to route, bleed or trim.

Built for the bar

The brake lever blade is carbon for a light, stiff feel, and a tool-free reach adjust dials the lever closer to the bar to suit smaller hands or a preferred grip. Power comes from a single CR2032 coin-cell battery housed under the hood, accessed by peeling back the rubber hood cover and removing the battery hatch - no charging dock required for the levers.

Compatibility & fit

This control is part of the original 11-speed SRAM RED eTap ecosystem and pairs with RED eTap 2x11 front and rear derailleurs. It is designed for mechanical cable-pull rim brake callipers - it is not the hydraulic (HRD) disc-brake version and does not actuate hydraulic callipers. As the left-side unit, fit it to the left side of the handlebar.
