SILCA set out to make an aero sock that is first a genuinely good sock. The Aero Tall pairs a smooth, fast front surface with rows of turbulators and a cuff that sits right on the UCI height limit for most riders.

How it works

Custom knitting machinery gives the sock a smooth frontal surface where airflow stays laminar, then adds three rows of turbulators. These create small vortices in the boundary layer that keep the flow attached further around the leg, shrinking the pressure wake behind it. SILCA measured the result as equal to ribbed lycra socks of similar height.

Comfort first

Developed with an Italian sock maker, the Aero Tall is knit from Q-Skin, a silver-ion infused polyamide that SILCA chose for its softness and moisture control as much as its antibacterial, anti-odour properties. The knit is designed not to fall down on long rides.
