Carbon Construction

The WH-M9220 rim is built from carbon fibre with a hookless bead profile. The shallow 19.7mm rim height keeps rotational weight low while the wide 30mm internal channel (38mm external) provides a stable platform for modern wide-section mountain bike tyres. The asymmetric rim bed shifts the valve hole off-centre, equalising spoke tension across the wheel for a stronger, more durable build.

XTR Hub Performance

Shimano's XTR FH-M9210 hub features stainless steel cartridge bearings with a labyrinth and contact seal system — delivering low rolling resistance while keeping contaminants out in wet and muddy conditions. Adjustable bearing preload lets you dial in feel and extend service intervals. The Micro Spline freehub uses a 3.5° engagement ratchet, giving 103 points of engagement for crisp, responsive acceleration on technical climbs and out of tight corners.
