XTR M9200 Technology

The BR-M9220 is designed for use within the Shimano XTR M9200 groupset. The M9220 caliper is a ground-up redesign — unlike the M9200 2-piston caliper, it is not carried over from the previous generation. Shimano re-engineered the piston layout, fluid chemistry, and pad mounting to meet the demands of enduro racing, resulting in a power curve that's been tuned to feel authoritative without being abrupt. When paired with the BL-M9220 brake lever, ServoWave cam technology further refines power delivery through the full lever stroke.

Pad Options

The BR-M9220 accepts both resin and metal pads, finned or non-finned, giving riders the ability to tune feel and heat management to their riding style. Compatible pad options include P04C-MF (metal, finned — included), P03A-RF (resin, finned), D02S-MX (metal, non-finned), and D03S-RX (resin, non-finned). Compatible rotors include Shimano Ice-Tech Freeza and standard Ice-Tech disc rotors.
