Caliper & Lever Technology

The BR-M9120 caliper's Mono-Body construction — cold-forged then CNC-machined from a single aluminium billet — eliminates flex at the caliper body, translating every lever input directly into clamping force. The dual-diameter opposed-piston arrangement uses a smaller entrance piston to guide the rotor in cleanly and a larger power piston to maximise braking force, giving the characteristic XTR blend of sharp modulation and ultimate power. Hydraulic actuation uses Shimano mineral oil, which is non-corrosive and stable across the temperature range encountered on the trail.

The BL-M9120 lever features Shimano's ServoWave geometry — a cam-shaped pivot that accelerates initial pad travel so pads contact the rotor almost instantly, then shifts to a higher mechanical advantage for progressively increasing braking force as you squeeze harder. The result is a brake that feels immediately responsive without being grabby. Reach and free-stroke are both tool-free adjustable at the lever body.

ICE Technologies Finned Metal Pads

The included N04C metal pads carry a full-length aluminium cooling fin that significantly increases surface area, shedding heat faster on sustained alpine descents where sustained braking can glaze or fade lesser pads. ICE Technologies compound metal pads offer long service life and consistent bite in wet, muddy, or dusty Australian trail conditions where organic pads can wear quickly.

Compatibility & Fit

This J-Kit is configured for rear use with a 1700mm brake hose, suited to most frame sizes. The caliper mounts to any standard post-mount frame or fork. Compatible with Shimano Center Lock rotors from 140mm to 203mm (rotor sold separately). The BL-M9120 lever clamps to 22.2mm handlebar ends and supports I-Spec EV direct integration with XTR M9100 series shift levers, eliminating a separate clamp.
