Performance & Technology

Shimano designed the R8000 generation with direct trickle-down from Dura-Ace R9100. The internal shifting mechanism has been completely redesigned with a multi-bushing system for smooth, consistent gear engagement under load. Front shifting action is noticeably lighter than the previous generation, enabling confident one-finger operation. The brake lever delivers clear contact feeling with balanced rigidity and stopping power, and the increased throw adjustment range of 14 mm (up from 10 mm) means riders of all hand sizes can find a natural, controlled reach to the lever.

Build Quality

The hood body and main lever blade are both constructed from CFRP, keeping the pair weight to 438 g without compromising durability. The narrower gap between lever arms improves the feel on the hoods during long rides. Full cableset is included — OT-SP41 housing to the lever side, OT-RS900 (240 mm section) to the rear derailleur — so you have everything needed for a clean installation.

Compatibility & Fit

The ST-R8000 lever set is designed for drop handlebars with a clamp diameter of 23.8 mm or 24.2 mm. It operates Shimano 11-speed road drivetrains and is fully compatible with Ultegra R8000 and the previous Ultegra 6800 generation derailleurs and brakes. Intended for rim brake road bikes. Not compatible with hydraulic disc brake systems (see ST-R8020 for disc).

Shimano warrants this product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 2 years from the date of original retail purchase, under normal use and conditions. This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, damage caused by accidents, improper installation, misuse, or modification.
