Why replace them together
A worn chain wears the cassette with it, so a new chain on old cogs skips and a new cassette on an old chain wears out early. Replacing them together is how Shimano intends the drivetrain to be serviced, and it keeps the shifting as sharp as the day the groupset was fitted. The rotors and pads follow the same logic: a fresh pad on a worn rotor beds in badly, and worn rotors are the usual cause of noise and fade on long descents.
Compatibility and fit
This kit is specified for a Shimano LINKGLIDE 9-speed e-bike drivetrain: CUES U4000 (RD-U4000 / RD-U4020) with 4-piston BR-U6020 / BR-U8020 brakes on Centre Lock hubs. The CS-LG400-9 fits a standard Shimano HG freehub body. LINKGLIDE cassettes need a LINKGLIDE chain, which is why the CN-LG500 is in the kit rather than an HG chain. The chainring is not included because on most e-bikes it is part of the motor's crank; the rotor pair suits a 180 mm front / 180 mm rear setup, both with internal-serration lockrings. The two pairs of N03A-RF pads fit 4-piston calipers; 2-piston CUES calipers take G-type or K-type pads instead. The kit contents are fixed, so if your bike runs different sizes or a different combination, get in touch before ordering and we will quote the right parts.
Every part in this kit is a genuine Shimano component and is covered by Shimano's manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship (two years from the date of purchase; spare parts such as pads and chainrings: Shimano's spare-parts warranty). Normal wear and tear, and damage from crashes, misuse or incorrect installation, are not covered.
