Carbon Construction & Ergonomics

Both the lever blade and hood body are constructed from carbon fibre reinforced polymer, keeping the lever light without sacrificing stiffness or durability. The redesigned hood is longer and more sculpted than the previous generation, improving comfort across long rides and supporting a natural hand position whether on the hoods, drops, or in the sprint.

Servo Wave Hydraulic Braking

Servo Wave action progressively increases mechanical advantage as the lever is pulled, giving you feathery initial modulation that firms up into powerful stopping force. Mineral oil hydraulic fluid and a sealed system deliver consistent brake feel in all conditions. Note: this is the left lever only — in Australian configuration the left lever controls the rear brake.

Wireless Di2 Shifting

The ST-R9270 uses Shimano's latest-generation wireless Di2 technology. Shift signals are transmitted wirelessly from the lever's integrated buttons to the front derailleur, with no junction box or wiring required. The optional EW-SD300 cable port allows wired connection if preferred. Satellite shifters (SW-RS801, SW-RS802) can be added for additional shift points, and all button functions are fully programmable through the E-Tube Project app.
