Shadow RD & Precision Construction

SHIMANO SHADOW RD keeps the derailleur tucked in close to the frame with a low-profile, single-tension design that resists impact and snagging in aggressive conditions. The body combines aluminium and CFRP to minimise weight without sacrificing the stiffness needed for fast, accurate shifting across all 12 sprockets. An integrated crash-detection mode can be activated by cycling through the full cassette range after an impact, resetting the derailleur's position without tools.

Compatibility & Fit

The RD-R9250 is designed for Shimano's 12-speed Dura-Ace R9200 and Ultegra R8100 road groupsets. Compatible electronic shifters include ST-R9250, ST-R9270, ST-R9160, ST-R9180, ST-R8150, ST-R8170, and ST-R8060. Recommended cassettes are CS-R9200 and CS-R8100 (11-speed minimum sprocket, 28–34T maximum low sprocket). Total capacity is 37T with a maximum chainring difference of 16T. Mount type is direct attachment (conventional); also direct mount compatible. Wired Di2 connection uses EW-SD300 cables. Not compatible with mechanical shifting systems.
