Strong, controllable power

The BR-M8220 caliper uses four pistons to clamp the rotor evenly, so you get more outright power and a planted, predictable feel when the trail points down. The redesigned SERVO WAVE mechanism in the BL-M8200 lever speeds up pad-to-rotor contact and then smooths the power delivery, so braking stays balanced rather than grabby.

Dial in your fit

Tool-free reach adjustment moves the alloy lever blade closer to or further from the grip, while free-stroke adjustment sets how far the lever travels before the pads engage. A closer pivot point follows the natural arc of your finger for comfortable one- or two-finger braking.

Cooler running

The pre-installed finned metal pads shed heat to help resist brake fade on sustained descents, and Shimano's low-viscosity mineral oil helps maintain a firm, consistent lever feel as temperatures climb.

Compatibility & fit

This is the front brake: in the Australian setup the right-hand lever operates the front caliper. The BR-M8220 is a Post Mount caliper and is supplied without a mount adapter, so add the correct Shimano adapter for your rotor size and frame/fork. The 1000 mm hose length suits a typical front-brake routing. Rotors are not included. The lever clamp accepts a standard band mount and is also I-SPEC EV compatible for integration with matching Shimano shifters. Uses Shimano metal (or resin) disc brake pads and Shimano mineral oil only.

Shimano components carry a manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Wear items such as brake pads and brake fluid are excluded, and the warranty does not cover damage from crashes, improper installation, incorrect bleeding, modification, or normal wear and tear. Correct installation and bleeding using Shimano mineral oil is required.
