HG-X Directional Technology

The CN-HG54 uses Shimano's HG-X chain architecture, which uses asymmetric inner and outer link plates. The outer plates are shaped to promote quick, positive engagement when shifting across the chainrings, while the inner plates are profiled for clean indexing across the cassette sprockets. Correct directional installation is essential — the chain is marked for orientation and installs in one direction only.
