Fully wired, fully electronic

Rim-brake 12-speed Di2 is a wired system: both levers connect through the EW-JC304 junction to the BT-DN300 internal battery, which also powers both derailleurs. That means no coin cells in the levers to replace — the entire system runs off one rechargeable battery, charged through the port on the rear derailleur with the included EW-EC300 cable. A charge lasts approximately 1,000km. Shift speed, multi-shift and Synchro Shift are all tunable over Bluetooth in the free E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist app.

Why Ultegra levers on a 105 kit

Shimano builds only two 12-speed levers for rim brakes — Ultegra ST-R8150 and Dura-Ace ST-R9250, both wired. The 105 Di2 lever (ST-R7170) is hydraulic-disc only. Pairing the Ultegra rim-brake levers with 105 R7150 derailleurs and a 105 drivetrain is the most affordable genuine-Shimano route to electronic shifting on a rim-brake frame.
