Engagement and bearings
Inside, a 60-tooth drive ring meets six pawls acting in two groups of three, for 120 points of engagement and almost instant power transfer. Large 6902 cartridge bearings sit in an oversized shell for stiffness and long service life. Race Face asks for a hub service at least once a year, and more often after mud, rain or pressure washing; our workshop services hubs.
One hub, any drivetrain
Vault cassette bodies swap between Shimano HG (Shimano MTB 9, 10 and 11-speed and SRAM 9 and 10-speed cassettes), SRAM XD (SRAM 11 and 12-speed) and Shimano Micro Spline (Shimano 12-speed MTB), and every Vault body fits every Vault rear hub, so a drivetrain change doesn't mean a new hub. Spare bodies are sold separately. Torque the cassette lock ring to 40 Nm.
Wheel building notes
Race Face sets a maximum spoke tension of 122 kgf at the hub, and radial or 1-cross lacing isn't permitted on Vault disc hubs. Build it into a rim with the same hole count and evenly spaced (not paired) spoke holes. Use 10mm-long rotor bolts and don't exceed 6.5 Nm at the hub's rotor bolt holes.
Compatibility & fit
Fits frames with a 12x148 Boost thru-axle. Race Face Boost hubs can't be converted to non-Boost; for a 12x142 frame choose the Vault 12x142 rear hub. The Kashmoney finish is listed separately. Our Sydney workshop can build this hub into a custom wheel; wheel building is a separate workshop service and isn't included.
