Pillar’s PDB1415 is a double-butted straight-pull spoke built to a 14G/15G profile — full 2.0mm gauge at the head and thread, tapering to 1.8mm through the middle to save weight without giving up strength where a spoke actually breaks.

Why double-butted
Butting removes material from the middle of the spoke, the lowest-stress part of the spoke once it’s built into a wheel, while keeping full gauge at the head and thread where the load actually concentrates. That cuts wheel weight without a strength penalty — standard practice on a quality hand-built wheel.
Compatibility & fit
Spoke length is specific to the hub, rim and lacing pattern of the wheel it’s built into — there’s no generic right answer. The Tune Cycles workshop calculates the correct length for your build and laces the wheel in-house; because these spokes are supplied without nipples, pair them with nipples sized to this spoke’s gauge. A spoke cut or ordered to the wrong length can’t be corrected afterwards.
