The Sword Black 1x crankset gives a square taper bike a proper gravel gear ratio, look and chainline. Its single chain-retaining ring keeps the drivetrain simple and pairs with either Sword Black 1x or the original Sword 1x group.

Gravel gearing for square taper frames

Square taper is still common on commuter, touring and entry-level gravel frames. Sword Black brings Microshift's gravel gearing to that platform without a bottom bracket conversion, so you can run a clean 1x setup in a threaded 68 mm shell. Microshift quotes 705 g for the 40T version and 715 g for the 42T, both with 172.5 mm arms.

Compatibility & fit

Designed to be used with Sword Black or Sword 1x groups and rated for 9 and 10 speed. It runs on a 68 x 113 mm JIS square taper bottom bracket in a threaded 68 mm shell. The 1x crankset is not compatible with 2x chainrings. Our workshop can fit the crankset and bottom bracket and set up the rest of your drivetrain.
