Known to racers as the 'Fastpen', the Aspen ST is an ultra-low-profile tread built for flat-out speed on dry short-track and XC courses. This 29 x 2.25 version combines MaxxSpeed rubber with EXO sidewall protection on a tubeless-ready foldable bead.

About the Aspen ST

Maxxis designed the Aspen ST primarily for short-track XC, where its minimal tread gives racers an edge in dry, grassy conditions. The trade-off is less bite, so it isn't the pick for technical tracks or mixed weather. Run it front or rear when the course is dry and fast.

MaxxSpeed rubber and EXO casing

MaxxSpeed (2023) is Maxxis's top XC race compound. Its high-silica formula improves wet traction and, in Maxxis lab tests, cut rolling resistance by about 25% against 3C MaxxSpeed. EXO adds a light, flexible, cut- and abrasion-resistant fabric to the sidewalls.

Compatibility & fit

Fits 29-inch rims (ETRTO 57-622). Maximum pressure is 50 psi. Check frame and fork clearance for a 2.25-inch tyre. Fitting isn't included; our workshop can mount it and set it up tubeless.
