KinetiCore technology

Rather than adding a separate slip-plane liner (as in MIPS systems), KinetiCore builds rotational impact management into the helmet's fundamental structure. A series of EPS foam blocks and channels — called controlled crumple zones — are engineered to deform in a crash, absorbing energy from both direct and rotational impacts. The result is a helmet that achieves a 5-star Virginia Tech safety rating while reducing total plastic use and overall weight.

Aeroshell compatibility

The optional Lazer Aeroshell clips over the Z1 KinetiCore to seal the vents in cold or wet conditions, or to provide an aerodynamic advantage during time trials and fast group rides. The Aeroshell is sold separately and is specific to the Z1 KinetiCore shell size.
