With no bulky adaptors and nothing touching the frame, the Pro suits full-suspension bikes and electric mountain bikes with wide down tubes. After the first installation, the quick release lets you fit, remove or swap it between bikes in about 30 seconds. Leg width, saddle position and 7 leg length options let you fine-tune the fit as your child grows.

Standards and what's in the box

Kids Ride Shotgun says the Pro meets ASTM F3641 for front-mounted child bike seats and undergoes independent quality inspections from TÜV. In the box: the Shotgun Pro seat, tools, a quick start guide, and stickers and temporary tattoos.

Compatibility & fit

• Child: Kids Ride Shotgun lists the Pro seat for children weighing 27 to 60lb (about 12 to 27kg), recommended age 2 to 5 years. They recommend your child can sit unaided, follow basic instructions and stay awake for the length of the ride.
• Bike: the seat mounts on the adult's bike. Check your bike has a standard 1 1/8" steerer, at least 10mm of headset space under the stem, at least 14mm of seat post space, and front suspension.
• Adaptors: bikes with integrated headset cable routing, or proprietary headsets such as Trek Knock Block or Scott Syncros, need an adaptor sold separately.
• Not recommended for: bikes without front suspension, such as road bikes or beach cruisers, because of the lack of clearance between the child's feet and the front wheel.
• Younger riders: the Shotgun Pro EVO harnessed seat (sold separately) mounts onto the Pro seat; Kids Ride Shotgun lists the EVO for kids 9 to 24 months.

The first installation mounts the Pro at your headset, under the stem. Our workshop can do that fitting for you as a separate workshop service.
