A grip that is too fat for a child's hand costs them control of the brakes. The Speedrun narrows the grip sections to 19mm so junior riders can hold on properly, while the centre stays a standard 31.8mm stem clamp.

Sized for young riders

680mm keeps a young rider's hands close to shoulder width on a small bike, where a wide bar makes the steering slow. To go narrower, cut the same amount off each end, measure from the centre and leave enough 19mm section for the grip plus room for the controls. Cut a little at a time, as it cannot be undone.

Using standard controls

The four rubber spacers pack out the 19mm section so a standard 22.2mm brake lever, shifter or grip clamps up properly. Many riders put the spacers under the controls and keep the thin 19mm section for the grips. When a rider can hold a 22.2mm grip and still reach the brake with one finger, they are ready for an adult bar.

Compatibility & fit

• Stem clamp: 31.8mm. It will not fit a stem with a 25.4mm clamp
• Grip sections: 19mm, made for the FUNN Hilt JR
• 22.2mm controls fit with the included rubber spacers
