Shimano CUES FC-U4000-1 single-chainring crankset
The FC-U4000-1 is the 1x crankset in Shimano's CUES range, covering 9, 10 and 11-speed CUES drivetrains from one part. The chainring uses Shimano's Dynamic Chain Engagement+ tooth profile, which grips the chain far better than a plain ring when the bike is being thrown around on rough ground.

Chain retention without a guide
Dynamic Chain Engagement+ shapes each tooth so the chain seats deeper and is held more securely. On a 1x drivetrain that matters: there is no front derailleur acting as a chain guide, so the ring itself has to do the work over roots, rocks and potholes.
Compatibility and fit
Choose your crank length and chainring size from the dropdown before adding to cart. This crankset uses a square-taper axle, so it needs a matching square-taper bottom bracket, which is sold separately. It is designed for Shimano CUES 1x drivetrains in 9, 10 and 11-speed. If you are unsure which bottom bracket your frame takes or which chainring suits your gearing, ask us before you order.
Shimano warrants this crankset against defects in materials and workmanship. Normal wear is excluded, which here means chainring tooth wear and wear to the pedal threads and axle interface from use, along with crash and impact damage, and damage from incorrect fitting, an incorrect bottom bracket or under- or over-tightening.
Warranty claims and returns are handled by Tune Cycles. Contact us with your order number, send the part back to us, and we will assess it and lodge the claim with the distributor on your behalf. Please do not send the part to Shimano directly.
