Carogna is a fast, clean and safe way to glue tubulars. Effetto Mariposa developed it to match the adhesion and heat resistance of the best mastics while keeping the convenience of a tape, and it works on road and off-road.

Two glues, one tape

On the rim side, an industrial-grade acrylic glue bonds reliably to aluminium and carbon but stays with the tape when the tubular is removed, leaving the rim ready for the next job. On the tubular side, a 1mm layer of high-viscosity permanent glue deforms to the base tape's shape as the tyre is inflated, for full contact across the base tape. It suits nylon, cotton and poly-cotton base tapes, raw, brushed or neoprene-coated.

Setting time and temperature

Glue in a workshop between 21°C and 38°C: adhesion reaches 80% after 8 hours and 99% after 24 hours, and won't develop properly below 10°C. Carogna is pressure-activated, so inflate road tubulars to maximum pressure while it sets; lower-pressure cyclocross tubulars can take longer. Effetto advises against sanding the rim, recommends cleaning with isopropyl alcohol or mineral spirits, and says to use the correct width, trimming any excess.

Compatibility & fit

Match the tape to the rim's gluing channel: S (16.5mm) for 15–18mm channels, SM (20mm) for 18–22mm, M (25mm) for 22–26mm and L (30mm) for 26–32mm. A 2m roll does one wheel; the 16m shop roll does eight. Suits road, cyclocross, gravel and MTB tubulars. Tubular gluing is a separate Tune Cycles workshop service and isn't included.
