Caffélatex is the sealant raced by professional road and off-road teams. It repairs punctures fast, adds little weight and turns to foam as the wheel spins, so it reaches the whole inside of the tyre, sidewalls included.

How it works

A blend of liquid synthetic polymers solidifies with fast evaporation, sealing the hole. Microscopic silicate particles (under 2 microns) slow the flow through the puncture, giving Caffélatex more time to heal it. After about 15 minutes at rest it returns to liquid.

How long it lasts

With the recommended quantity, Effetto quotes up to 1 year in tubulars or latex/butyl tubes, 2–6 months in UST tubeless, 1–4 months in tubeless-ready and 1–3 months in tube-type tyres. Check it every two months: dried Caffélatex still keeps the tyre air-tight but no longer repairs punctures. An opened bottle keeps for 2 years if sealed, stored at -15 to +30°C and out of direct sunlight.

Compatibility & fit

Use with tubeless or tubeless-ready tyres, tubulars, or latex and butyl inner tubes; not TPU tubes. Effetto Mariposa publishes a quantity chart by tyre size. Water in any sealant can oxidise bare aluminium where the rim isn't painted or covered by tubeless tape or strip. Usage range is -20 to +50°C. The 250ml and 1000ml bottles include a flexible tube for injecting through the valve. Fitting and set-up are a separate Tune Cycles workshop service and are not included.
