The DT Swiss HX 491 is a tough, welded aluminium rim built for the extra loads and torque of e-MTB riding. The 36-hole drilling builds an extra-robust wheel for heavier riders and demanding cargo or trail duty.

Built for e-MTB

The HX 491 is approved for e-MTB use and carries a 150 kg maximum system weight, so it handles the higher forces an electric drivetrain puts through the wheel. The 36-hole count adds spoke support for heavy-duty builds, while the welded joint and 21 mm depth keep the rim strong and true through hard trail miles.

Compatibility & fit

This is a disc-specific rim with no brake track, so it suits disc-brake wheels only. The 25 mm internal width pairs well with mid-volume MTB tyres. It uses non-eyelet PHR spoke seats and a Presta valve hole, and is tubeless ready once set up with tape and a valve.

DT Swiss covers this rim with a 24-month warranty against material and manufacturing defects from the date of purchase. Normal wear items, including tubeless tape, are not covered. The DT Swiss crash-replacement (Fair Share) programme applies to carbon rims only and does not apply to this aluminium rim.
