The DRV/GMR is Profile Design's rethink of its gravel drop bar: straight upper drops so the levers sit the way they were designed, a strong flare lower down, and 9 mm of rise on the tops and hoods for a higher position. This is the DRiVe 120 bar in 44 cm.
Highlights
- Upper drops kept straight, significant flare in the lower drops
- 9 mm rise on the tops and hoods compared with Profile Design's other DRV bars
- DRiVe 120 sizing: 75 mm reach, 137 mm drop
- 31.8 mm clamp, 6061-T6 aluminium, matte black
- Takes Sonic, Neosonic and Supersonic clip-on aerobar brackets
The DRiVe metric
DRiVe (Drop Reach Variant) is Profile Design's way of sizing a drop bar by where your hands sit in the drops. It is measured along a 73° line from the bar bore to where that line meets the drop. The DRV/GMR comes in DRiVe 105 (36, 38, 40 and 42 cm) and DRiVe 120 (40, 42 and 44 cm).
Shape
Most gravel bars flare the whole drop. Profile Design keeps the upper part of the drop straight and puts the flare in the lower part, so the brake levers can be held the way they were designed. The 44 cm width is measured centre to centre, and the drops measure 520 mm across. There is no internal cable routing.
Compatibility & fit
Clamps in a 31.8 mm stem with a 100 mm clamp area; Profile Design lists it as compatible with any Profile Design stem. Clip-on aerobars: compatible with the Sonic, Neosonic and Supersonic bracket kits; not compatible with the Subsonic, Legacy II, Airstryke, Flip Ergo or Hypersonic bracket kits. Maximum torque is 6 Nm at the stem clamp and 10 Nm for the brake levers; overtightening the clamp can crack the bar. Follow Profile Design's DRV/GMR installation instructions.
Our workshop can fit the bar, levers and tape, and set up clip-on aerobars if you run them.
