Replace a worn freehub, or change a Crankbrothers Synthesis Standard hub to Shimano Micro Spline, with Crankbrothers' own alloy Shimano Micro Spline body. It comes with the spacer and drive-side end cap that Crankbrothers says to use with a replacement body.

Identify your hub

Crankbrothers makes separate freehub bodies for its Standard, Ratchet and Industry Nine hubs, so check your hub before ordering. Crankbrothers describes its Standard hub as matte anodised black with two Crankbrothers logos, a 3-pawl freehub, a threaded axle and a 5-digit part code between the brake rotor mounts. It appears on Synthesis Alloy 1.0 and Synthesis Carbon mountain wheels.

Fitting & servicing

Crankbrothers' installation guide calls for a 12mm hex key, a 17mm cone or open-end spanner, pliers, grease, medium-strength threadlocker and a torque wrench, with the drive-side end cap tightened to 12Nm. When replacing the body, use the spacer and end cap supplied with it. Our workshop can fit the body, grease the pawls and check the hub bearings while the wheel is apart. Fitting is a separate workshop service and is not included in the price.

Compatibility & fit

Fits Crankbrothers Synthesis Standard (3-pawl) rear hubs. Crankbrothers' Standard freehub compatibility chart (2019-current) lists the alloy body for Standard XCT, Enduro and DH wheels; E-Bike and E-Bike Plus wheels take the steel body. It takes Shimano Micro Spline cassettes. It does not fit Crankbrothers Ratchet or Industry Nine hubs.
