What S.H.I.S. means

S.H.I.S. (Standardized Headset Identification System) is the industry code that states a headset's fit in one line: the letters give the cup type (ZS zero-stack, EC external cup, IS integrated), the first number is the head tube bore it presses into in mm, and the number after the slash is the steerer or crown race diameter the bearing takes. ZS56 on both halves means a 56mm head tube bore at the top as well as the bottom – an oversized-both-ends frame design rather than the more common 44mm top.

Fits a 56mm head tube bore top and bottom, tapered 1-1/8in to 1.5in steerer. This is an uncommon bore pairing – confirm your frame's own S.H.I.S. marking matches before ordering, or ask Tune's workshop to measure the frame and press the headset as part of a fork or frame build.
