Three gears sealed inside the hub, away from the weather: this 700C / 29er rear wheel is built around Sturmey-Archer's S-RF3, a simple way to give a city, cruiser or folding bike a low gear for hills and a high one for the flat.

The hub. Sturmey-Archer lists the S-RF3 as: classic 3-speed internal gear hub, 177% gear range (steps of 33% and 33%); 6061 aluminium hub shell; freewheel version, with no brake in the hub; takes a 13T to 24T sprocket; hub weight 970 g.
Fit. It needs a frame with 117 mm rear spacing and takes a nutted axle. It shifts with a Sturmey-Archer 3-speed shifter and indicator chain; ask us if you need one. It takes a 13T to 24T Sturmey-Archer sprocket. The rim has a machined braking surface for rim brakes.
Built to order. Hand-built by our wheel builder and dispatched in about 5 days.

Sturmey-Archer and the rim maker don't publish consumer warranty terms we can quote for this build. The wheel is covered against defects in materials and manufacture. Normal wear, crash or impact damage and misuse are not covered. If you have a problem, return the item to Tune Cycles with your proof of purchase and we'll manage the claim.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
