Cargo-Optimised Performance

Unlike a standard EP8 motor, the DU-EP800-CRG runs dedicated cargo firmware that shifts the torque curve to deliver maximum output at much lower rider pedal force. This means effortless acceleration even when the bike is carrying groceries, children, or trade equipment. The system is rated for combined rider and cargo weights up to 250 kg, making it suitable for long-tail, box-bike, and cargo-trike applications.

Smart Connectivity

The EP800-CRG communicates via Shimano's E-TUBE system, acting as the master unit for connected accessories including lights (12V DC, 2A maximum front and rear), speed sensors (SD300 port), and Di2 shifting components. Firmware updates and assist profile customisation are handled wirelessly through the E-TUBE PROJECT app. A "Safe Way Home" battery reserve function keeps a small charge in hand for the ride back.

Compatibility & Fit

The DU-EP800-CRG uses a 24 mm narrow-wide spindle interface and is designed for disc-brake cargo framesets with wheel sizes from 1,300 mm to 3,000 mm in diameter. Compatible with Shimano STEPS-compatible batteries (408 Wh, 514 Wh, and 630 Wh) as well as approved third-party battery partners. Di2-compatible internal geared hubs and rear derailleurs are supported for automatic shifting integration. The TL-EW300 tool included in the box is required for connecting and disconnecting E-TUBE wiring harnesses.
