The E5100 integrates with Shimano's E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist app via Bluetooth, allowing you to personalise assist output, monitor system health, and update firmware from your smartphone. For riders using internal hub gear drivetrains, the Auto Shift function automatically triggers gear changes at the right moments, reducing the need to manually shift while focusing on the ride. The drive unit pairs with the Shimano SC-EN610 display for clear, at-a-glance ride data.

Compatibility & Fit

The DU-E5100 is designed for mid-ship (bottom bracket area) installation and is compatible with Shimano STEPS 36 V battery systems including 418 Wh, 504 Wh, and 630 Wh internal battery options. Brake compatibility covers disc, V-brake, roller, and coaster brake systems. Compatible wheel circumferences range from 1,300 mm to 3,000 mm. Works with Di2 wireless electronic shifting. Shimano warrants STEPS drive units to the original owner for a period of two years from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship.
