The Shimano Saint BR-M820 Front Disc Brake J-Kit pairs the formidable BR-M820 4-ceramic-piston caliper with the BL-M820-B I-Spec B lever — everything you need for a complete front brake install. Engineered for gravity and downhill riding, this kit delivers exceptional stopping power with precise modulation, even under the intense heat and abuse of technical descents.

Highlights

  • 4-Ceramic Piston Caliper: Four ceramic pistons provide even, powerful pad contact across the rotor for consistent, high-power braking on steep terrain.
  • ICE Technologies Heat Management: Integrated heat dissipation technology keeps brake performance stable during prolonged, high-speed descents where heat build-up is critical.
  • SERVOWAVE Lever Action: The BL-M820-B lever's Servo Wave mechanism delivers rapid initial pad travel so minimal lever movement brings pads to the rotor — improving modulation and reducing hand fatigue.
  • J-Kit Pre-Filled System: The hose arrives pre-filled with mineral oil and sealed with a membrane. A pin in the lever pierces the membrane on connection, making installation clean and fast with no bleeding required out of the box.
  • Tool-Free Reach & Free Stroke Adjust: Rider-friendly lever adjustability — reach and free stroke can be dialled in without tools to match hand size and riding preference.
  • I-Spec B Compatible: The lever clamp integrates with Shimano I-Spec B shifters to reduce handlebar clutter and save space.
  • One-Way Bleeding: Shimano's One-Way Bleeding system simplifies maintenance — streamlined oil routes and a funnel tool make bleeding quick and clean.

Caliper & Lever Detail

The BR-M820 caliper features a rigid 2-piece, forged and machined aluminium body housing four ceramic pistons. The ceramic construction reduces heat transfer into the hydraulic fluid, maintaining consistent lever feel under load. Compatible brake pads include H01A Resin or H03C Metal pads with cooling fins. The BL-M820-B lever features a 2-finger ergonomic design with an antiskid surface, aluminium lever blade, and a standard clamp-band mount with I-Spec B integration.

Compatibility & Fit

This J-Kit is configured for the front wheel with a right-hand lever (note: Australian standard — right lever = front brake). Caliper mount: Post Mount. Hose: SM-BH90-SBLS, 1000mm (front). Hydraulic fluid: Shimano mineral oil. Compatible rotors: 140mm, 160mm, 180mm, 203mm, 220mm — recommended rotors SM-RT99 (IceTech) or SM-RT86. Part of the Shimano Saint M820 gravity/downhill groupset.
