Shimano's Automatic Impact Recovery detects when the derailleur has been deflected by a rock or root and uses the motor to snap it back into position instantly, without the rider noticing. A wedge-shaped profile adds 23 mm of ground clearance versus the previous generation, while the wide-link cage, protective skid plate, and covered pulleys guard against debris. SHADOW ES dual-spring chain stabilisation keeps the chain firmly in place on rough descents without a separate chain guide.

The SW-M8250R Rapid ES shifter attaches via standard clamp band (22.2 mm) and features multi-axis reach and angle adjustment so it sits perfectly in your hand. Short-stroke paddles make rapid shifting effortless, and hold-down multi-shift lets you dump multiple gears in one motion when the trail demands it.

Compatibility & Fit

Designed for Shimano 12-speed Hyperglide+ drivetrains. The RD-M8250-SGS long-cage variant supports cassettes up to 51T (10-51T range). Compatible with standard B-screw hanger mounting. The SW-M8250R uses a 22.2 mm clamp band, suitable for any standard handlebar. Existing Shimano 12-speed cassette, chain, chainring, and crankset are retained — only the rear derailleur, shifter, battery, and charger are replaced. Works with XTR, XT, SLX, and Deore 12-speed Hyperglide+ cassettes and chains.
