LinkGlide is Shimano's durability-focused drivetrain platform designed for everyday riders, commuters, and e-bike users who need a drivetrain that stays sharp over thousands of kilometres. Unlike HyperGlide, LinkGlide tooth profiles are shaped to minimise wear at the point of chain engagement, significantly extending cassette and chain service life. The result is smoother, quieter shifting that stays consistent long after a conventional cassette would need replacement.

Compatibility & Fit

Compatible with Shimano HG Spline freehubs (141mm or 148mm over-locknut dimension). Can also fit Shimano Road 11/12-speed freehubs using a 1.85mm spacer (135mm or 142mm OLN). Requires a LinkGlide-compatible chain — Shimano CN-LG500 is recommended; standard HG 11-speed chains (CN-HG601-11, CN-HG701-11, CN-HG901-11, CN-E8000-11) are also compatible. Must be used with a LinkGlide-compatible rear derailleur and shifters — not compatible with standard HyperGlide drivetrains. Speed: 11-speed.
