Pillar’s PTB380 is a genuine triple-butted J-bend spoke — three distinct diameters along its length, 2.3mm at the elbow, 1.8mm through the middle and 2.0mm at the thread, for a lighter spoke that still carries full gauge at the elbow and a near-full gauge at the thread.

Why triple-butted
A third diameter lets Pillar tune the elbow and the thread separately instead of matching them, as a double-butted spoke does — full 2.3mm gauge where the elbow takes the highest load, a lighter 1.8mm through the low-stress middle, and 2.0mm at the thread.
Compatibility & fit
Spoke length is specific to the hub, rim and lacing pattern of the wheel it’s built into — there’s no generic right answer. The Tune Cycles workshop calculates the correct length for your build and laces the wheel in-house; because these spokes are supplied without nipples, pair them with nipples sized to this spoke’s gauge. A spoke cut or ordered to the wrong length can’t be corrected afterwards.
