Everything a Fox Live Valve Neo shock needs to come alive: the rechargeable controller battery, wireless fork and rear bump sensors and the charging dock. Fox lists this kit as required for the operation of Live Valve Neo systems, so it's the one to get with a Neo shock.

Highlights

  • Rechargeable controller battery with cover, plus a Fox battery block
  • Wireless fork and rear bump sensors, with CR2032 cells included
  • Charging dock with a USB-A to USB-C cable
  • Two M6 x 20mm and two M6 x 42mm bolts to mount the sensors with standard or oversized rotors
  • For DHX, Float X and Float X2 Live Valve Neo shocks
  • The controller battery also fits the Transfer Neo dropper post (sold separately)

How Live Valve Neo works

The bump sensors sit on the front and rear brake calipers and talk to the controller on the Live Valve Neo rear shock over Fox's own wireless protocol, with a 1-millisecond response time, quick wake-up and a very low-power sleep mode when the bike is parked. The FOX BIKE App (iOS and Android) is used to choose suspension modes, change tunes, check battery life, update firmware and decode LED sequences.

Charging and battery life

The controller battery slides off the shock and latches onto the dock, which shows red while charging and green when it's done, in about 1.5 hours. Fifteen minutes on the charger gives roughly 1.5 hours of extra riding. A green LED circle on the controller shows the charge in quarters, and the system shuts itself down after 45 minutes without motion. Fox suggests switching it off before you drive home with the bike, so it isn't reacting to road bumps.

Fitting and set-up

Each sensor mounts directly above its brake caliper on a single bolt (the top bolt on the fork caliper, the forward bolt on the rear), is paired to the controller and then the system is calibrated, ideally through the app. Fitting and set-up are a separate workshop service; as an authorised Fox service centre, our Marrickville workshop can fit the sensors, pair them and calibrate your Neo shock.

Compatibility & fit

Fox lists this kit as compatible with DHX, Float X and Float X2 Live Valve Neo shocks. It supplies the controller battery, not the controller, which is part of the Neo shock. Fox says the bump sensors are compatible with current Shimano and SRAM production hydraulic MTB brakes, including Shimano XTR M9100, Deore XT M8100, SLX M7100 and Deore M6100, and also lists Magura MT7 and TRP DHR Evo as compatible. Older Shimano calipers with outboard hose fittings or protruding bleed fittings (such as Deore XT M8000) and Hope E4 and V4 calipers with protruding bleed fittings are known to interfere with the sensors.

Fox covers its mountain bike suspension products with a limited one-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, from the date of original retail purchase, for the original owner. Normal wear and tear, crash damage, improper assembly and unauthorised repair or maintenance aren't covered, and your rights under Australian Consumer Law are unaffected. For warranty support, return the product to Tune Cycles and we'll manage the claim with Ride Fox Australia, Fox's Australian distributor.
