Shelter is a transparent adhesive tape that shields carbon and metal frames from impacts and scratches. A hard-wearing top layer sits over a gummy viscoelastic layer that spreads impact energy instead of passing it to the frame.

Road or Off-Road

Shelter Road is 0.6mm thick (0.4mm viscoelastic layer) and suits lighter off-road riding, gravel and cyclocross. Shelter Off-Road is 1.2mm thick (1mm viscoelastic layer), the thickest Shelter, for heavier-duty off-road riding. Watermarked Shelter logos inside the material identify the genuine product.

Applying it

Clean the area with alcohol and a clean cloth, then wipe dry. Cut your piece with the backing on and check the fit, then peel the backing fully, handling the adhesive as little as possible. Position it without stretching, then press from the centre outwards to avoid bubbles, working the edges and curves. You can ride straight away; full bond takes 8 hours.

Compatibility & fit

Suits carbon and metal frames and parts. The 80mm width suits wide areas such as down tubes and chainstays, and you cut it to shape. Widths and lengths have a ±10% tolerance. With fluorescent or bright paints, protected and unprotected areas may differ in colour after removal. Frame protection fitting is a separate Tune Cycles workshop service and isn't included.
