Shimano Deore XT BR-M8120 4-piston disc brake caliper

The four-piston XT caliper is what you want when the descents get long and steep. Shimano rates it around 10% more braking power than the M8000 it replaced, and the quicker piston retraction gives you clean pad clearance and a more controlled bite instead of an on-off grab.

Control on the descent

More pistons spread the clamping force across a longer pad, so power arrives progressively rather than all at once. That is what gives you confidence to brake later and hold a line through rough ground.

Setup

The banjo connection and internal hose routing make fitting and bleeding straightforward, and the caliper works on either wheel.

Compatibility and fit

For frames and forks with a post mount disc brake interface, used with a compatible Shimano hydraulic brake lever. It can be fitted front or rear. The supplied N03A pads are resin with cooling fins. Rotor size depends on your frame, fork and adapter, so check what your bike is set up for before ordering — our mechanics can confirm it and fit the brake for you.
