A titanium crank you can move between bikes. 5DEV CNC-machines and laser-welds the hollow RGXC arms in San Diego, and its three-piece spindle design lets you set the crank up for a road, wide road/gravel or cross-country frame, then swap spindles later instead of buying new cranks.

One crank for road, gravel and cross-country

RGXC stands for road, gravel and cross-country. The arms stay the same and the spindle sets the width: 5DEV designs the crank around its 118 mm Road, 122 mm Road Wide and 130 mm XC spindles, and any 5DEV spindle fits, so a new frame doesn't make the crank obsolete. The hollow titanium arms are light and stiff and damp vibration, the low-profile tip helps with rock strikes on technical trails, and 5DEV says its in-house testing puts the RGXC at five times the ISO standard for both road and mountain use.

Compatibility & fit

Bottom bracket: sold separately. 5DEV's Road and Road Wide spindles are 29 mm, the SRAM DUB size (5DEV: 28.99 mm), so you need a DUB-size bottom bracket for your frame's shell, threaded or press-fit. 5DEV makes its 130 mm spindle in both 29 mm and 30 mm, and DSG doesn't state which comes on the XC option, so we'll confirm it before you order.

Frame: DSG lists the Road spindle for 68 mm road shells and Road Wide for 73 mm and gravel frames. 5DEV asks for at least 3–5 mm between each crank arm and the frame.

Chainrings and power: SRAM 8-bolt direct-mount rings, 1× or 2×, and all Quarq 8-bolt power meter spiders (5DEV). The Dura-Ace spider takes Shimano Dura-Ace R9200 12-speed rings; to run 11-speed Dura-Ace, 5DEV says you need an FC-R9200 12-speed small ring. The 52T Aero ring is for SRAM Transmission, XPLR, AXS and Eagle chains and may not work with some Shimano chains, and it won't clear bottom bracket cups or a T47 shell larger than 51 mm in diameter.

Pedals: 5DEV doesn't recommend titanium pedal axles in its titanium cranks. Always use anti-seize or grease on the pedal threads.

The Tune Cycles workshop can fit the bottom bracket and crankset for you as a separate workshop service. Threaded shells need the right bottom bracket tool and press-fit shells need a proper bearing press, so it pays to have the shell checked and the bottom bracket fitted correctly first. 5DEV's torque spec for the RGXC crank bolt is 50 Nm, and 8-bolt chainring bolts go to 4 Nm in a star pattern.
