Construction
The WH-MT501 pairs a double-walled aluminium alloy rim with 24 double-butted stainless steel spokes laced to a Boost-spaced rear hub. The hub uses Shimano's cup and cone bearing system with contact and labyrinth seals to keep trail grime out and rolling resistance low. The rim's 24mm internal width sits in the sweet spot for modern MTB rubber, providing a consistent tyre profile across the 2.0"–2.4" width range.
Compatibility & Fit
Rear wheel. Fits 148mm Boost thru-axle frames with a 12mm axle diameter. Shimano Micro Spline freehub — compatible with Shimano 12-speed cassettes. Centre Lock disc brake interface; requires a Centre Lock rotor (sold separately). Rim diameter: 27.5" / 650b (ETRTO 584). Recommended tyre width: 2.0"–2.4". Clincher only — not tubeless ready. Not compatible with HG or XD/XDR cassettes without a replacement freehub body.
